The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area (ONA) is a nationally recognized treasure, designated by Congress in 2008 to ensure its protection, preservation, and public access. It is home to 8,000 years of history, critical wildlife habitats, and a landmark that has guided mariners since 1860.
Recently, national discussions and media articles have emerged concerning federal government reorganization and the potential sale of federal properties. Although there are no direct reports concerning the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area, it is worth noting that this site, including the Lighthouse, is federally owned and managed by the Bureau of Land Management, an agency of the U.S. Department of the Interior.
